Two woman and two girls drowned in pond while bathing in Jharkhand

A heartbreaking tragedy struck Hariya village in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district on Friday when four girls drowned in a pond while bathing. The incident occurred in the Nadi Ara Tola locality under the Garhwa police station area. The deceased girls have been identified as Lado Singh (10), Ankita Singh (22), Roma Singh (18), and Meethi Singh (15).

According to reports, the girls had gone to the pond to bathe, a common routine in the village. However, the situation took a tragic turn when one of them began to struggle in the deeper part of the pond. As the others rushed to help, they too were pulled under, one by one, unable to save themselves. The depth and sudden drop in the pond caught them off guard.

Family members and locals rushed to the spot and immediately took the girls to Garhwa Sadar Hospital, but the doctors declared them dead. The news of the deaths spread rapidly, and a wave of mourning engulfed the community. Many gathered at the hospital, unable to hold back their tears.

The deceased girls came from different villages. While Lado Singh belonged to Hariya village, Ankita Singh was the daughter of Jitendra Singh, also from Hariya. Roma Singh hailed from Pagar village under Panki police station in Palamu district, and Meethi Singh was from Purnadih village in Lesliganj.

In response to the tragedy, several officials including Garhwa MLA Satendra Nath Tiwari, former minister Mithilesh Kumar Thakur, Garhwa SDO Sanjay Kumar, and local police station in-charge Brij Kumar visited the hospital. They expressed condolences to the grieving families and promised support during this difficult time.
